Innova Partnerships was founded in 2006 to support the growth and development of Life Science companies. Since then it has had a growing portfolio of investments and clients. With a head office at the heart of Scotland on the shore of Loch Earn in St Fillans, Perthshire, the Innova team has outstanding experience in building and growing businesses in the Life Science sector. Innova is part of the Scottish Enterprise High Growth Start-Up Unit that supports companies achieve their potential in Scotland.
A team with a proven track record
The team at Innova Partnerships have gained extensive management experience in large Life Science global corporations such as Johnson & Johnson and Unilever,combined with experience in start up companies. The Directors have set up start up companies within multinationals, and helped locate new start companies such as Alere Technologies Ltd (formerly Stirling Medical Innovations) in Scotland. In addition, the Directors have significant experience in merger and acquisition programmes and also in revenue raising activities. Innova Partnerships Ltd has invested in University start ups such as Deliverics Ltd and other early stage Life Science organisations.
Adding value
The Innova Partnerships team offers specialist partnering and consultancy services and focuses on “Early to Revenue” business models. This includes strategic IP licensing, in-depth market research and route-to-market intelligence, and recruitment of management teams and technical talent. The team works with many large established pharmaceutical, biotechnology and medical technology businesses that recognise it is impossible to discover and develop everything “in house”. With hands on expertise in deal-making and taking products to market, Innova Partnerships helps add value to businesses and grow revenues.
IP knowledge and focus
Innova Partnerships possess intimate knowledge of intellectual property and commercialising IP portfolios. It is able to offer value by helping Life Sciences companies develop an explicit IP strategy to support the growth and protection of intellectual assets. Innova also offers a wide range of IP services including technology scouting, identifying licensing opportunities for both in- and outlicensing, aiding with intellectual property licensing negotiations and patent administration.
Innovation and new ventures
The people at Innova understand the challenges of growing a new company and are able to support founders by offering flexible services to give companies the benefit of a wide breadth of expertise. For new and young businesses the team can offer support to establish early revenues by preparing for first-round investment and recruiting experienced management teams. In addition, Innova Partnership’s expertise in introducing new products to market and commercialising technology means that we can support the growth of young companies.
Within the portfolio of companies in which Innova Partnerships has invested, there are many examples of growth and the successful launch of new products. Innova Biosciences Ltd currently sells over 50 products around the world, Deliverics Ltd launched two products in Europe, the US and Asian within its first year of trading, and Burdica Biomed Ltd has launched two products and established partners in China.
Investing in growing Life Science business
Innova Partnerships provides finance to businesses at all stages of development across the Life Sciences sector. These range from medical devices and diagnostics through to biotechnology and Life Science services. As Innova Partnerships is a Scottish Enterprise co-investment fund partner through the Upstarts syndicate, businesses meeting the co-investment fund criteria are able to leverage the investment they receive.
